When Jonathan Horne moved from Kensington Church
Street in the Summer of 2006 there was a general
concern among collectors of early pottery as to
whether he would be continuing his annual
exhibition which has been a regular feature in
the ceramic world calendar for the last 26
years. All those interested in fine English
pottery will be glad to know that it will be
business as usual and the 27th annual
exhibition will be held at Sampson and Horne at
120 Mount Street, London W1K 3NN from 12th
– 17th March 2007.
There will be a large collection of pottery
which will include a fascinating group of
Bristol bird plates, brown and white saltglazed
stoneware is well represented. Early
Staffordshire figures include an arbour group of
two ladies seated in a bower. A handsome jug
dated 1814 decorated in enamels shows the scene
at one of Pickford’s wharfs. These well known
carriers operated an extensive network of canal
barges that linked the North to the Midlands and
London.
The pottery exhibition will be set amongst fine
17th and 18th century oak
and country furniture, English needlework,
primitive pictures, works of art and metalwork.
Truly something for everyone. Do go and have a
look, you will be assured of a warm welcome. |
